Ron Paul Raises 4.2 Million in 24 Hour Donation Drive, Topping His Previous One Day Record of a Couple Million

MSNBC is running this as their front page story. I wonder if they are afraid of Denial of Service attacks if they don't.

For some reason, I have the feeling that there is some Enron type accounting going on, and I would wait for those checks clear before I put alot of stock into this story.

However, I must give my shout out to Paul and his minions. They are certainly mobilized and are in a lot of ways a model example of how our two party system works. Having dabbled in Libertarianism myself at one point, it is interesting to see how a former 3rd party presidential candidate that never actually registered on the political radar back in the 80's, has reformed his strategy and signed on to the Republican party and has actually been a fairly effective congressman at limiting spending by voting No on everything for over a decade.

Now he runs as a Republican presidential candidate and is actually invited to debates and claims the headline story on such major news outlets as MSNBC (even though nobody reads it).

Ron Paul should be the model for all Libertarians that there is more to gain by being a Republican and trying to sway the party closer to your ideals, than living the lie of 3rd party viability.

Scabbing and Strikebreaking are such dirty and negative words. How about making money. Is that what we all should be doing. I once had a job a Target. It wasn't great but I worked really hard because, that was how my parents raised me. It is also why I have little time to write on this subject, because I work too hard. Now my beef with these losers walking around backing up traffic and talking on the Iphones and blackberries and screaming to stop productions, is that they are doing just that and not working. While at Target they had rules about pay and pay increases and they could only be so much. It got to the point where I was doing a huge portion of my team's work and not being compensated for it. The best i got was the maximum pay increase the rules allowed. Plus my superiors were very glad I was there and made it known to me how valuable it was that I was there. After two years of working the graveyard shift at Target (because I was also going to school) I had to go. I had my fill of Target and knew that I could find a better paying job and that I would be worth it. They offered me more money but it came with more responsibility and I had to way the costs and it didn't add up.

My point to this is that I wanted more money so "I" quit and "I" found another job that payed more money and have been doing so for my entire life and will do so until I die. That is why I live in America because with the right education and hard work I can achieve whatever "I" want. Not what someone else wants but "me" and my family.

How can one trust the other 3,000 members of this Writers Union, that they all want the same thing. You can't that is impossible. For a few negotiators to solve the needs of 3,000 impossible. The Writers Union as it exists is designed to restrict, the rules and regulations of the Union inhibit progress and revenue more than the big moguls that they are picketing against.

The Writers Union should be changing it's purpose and not stand as a Union but as an Organization the supports those that need it help. These practices are already in place in the Union except they are tied up in the rules and regulations of the "Union" Why can't I, (as a future filmmaker and writer) benefit from some of the help and support services of the WGA and not be forced to abide by all its rules. The Union as we can see has such a hold on the industry that for new upcoming talent it is impossible to succeed without having to succumb to the Union.

I feel my statements have not been 100% clear. But here are some facts I would like to share.

The majority of the WGA is made up of non-working writers. Those famous people you see on TV are either not WGA members or they are probably not working as writers. The actual working writers were up until midnight the night before the strike finishing scripts. For some reason I could see myself as one of those writers working my hardest to finish the job before I was forced by the "Union" (that was created to help me) to stop working. It is like you were fired and quit by yourself but didn't want to.

Next the WGA states that they withdrew their demand for a 4 cent increase in DVD sales and only wanted the percentages for online revenue to match that of TV. If this is true or not it made little difference to the AMPTP because at that late hour on Sunday night back on the East Coast the WGA East had already gone on strike. Did the negotiators for the WGA West not think that the AMPTP would know about the East Coast going on strike at midnight (all those out work new yorkies were eager for something to do and they get free drinks and food).

So when a friend makes a deal with you but he already knows the outcome and you discover that he already knows what is going to happen, Do you still trust him, do you still believe him when he says that he does not want increase on the DVD sales.

There is so much on this topic to discuss.
The fact that the studion moguls really have no idea how to make money online. Despite what Tina Fey and Jon Stewart have said. If they knew how to make money they would be doing it. The internet is a dangerous place and devours most sites. So far few have succeeded in this game.

Writers shouldn't be worried about making more money they should be worried about losing there job, because the quality of online content is becoming far superior to that of TV.

This site is serious about not supporting the strike. Although I have nothing against writers making money but they should do it on their own like the rest of us.

What it Means to be an Arizona Sports Fan

Warner and the Cardinals loss this Sunday to the mediocre Tampa Bay Buccaneers after two weeks to plan for the game and a healthy wide receiver Anquan Boldin to help out. Warner looked dazed throughout the game and nothing like his Super Bowl MVP self. Arizona defense looked solid but too many 3 and outs from Warner left them on the field for well over 2/3's of the game and the exhaustion became too much to endure.

The Cardinals are now 3-5 with the season slipping away. In most markets, such a loss would be the most talked about subject around the watercooler and online forums would be ripe for calls of somebody's head, but this is Arizona and we have claimed more heads than Henry VIII and frankly we are saturated with our thirst for blood.

But yesterday's game was indicitive of Arizona sports, in that the fourth quarter told the story of the game, the season to this point and most likely the season from here on. After years of watching Arizona teams play, I have realized that it is ALWAYS the fourth quarter/period/9th inning that tells the story for the team's season. My realization came during the Diamondbacks surprising NLWest championship whilst being outscoured during the regular season.

The Diamondbacks won the West by coming through in one run games, and often claiming those wins in the 9th inning. Their 9th inning wins were always a surprise to their opponents who usually led by a couple runs before calling in their closer, and losing by just enough to send them home wondering what happened. And this is exactly what happened to the Dodgers and Padres this season. The Diamondbacks slow to start (and somebody everyone had written off long before the season had started) produced when it counted and claimed the title.

The Cardinals this year have been a different story, but their story can be told in the last minutes of each game as well. Wisenhunt, in a recent press conference, claimed that they have never been really beat this year and were contenders in every game, but their record is 3-5 and the season is half over with what is so far a losing season. Granted, Leinart is out and so was Warner for a while but even so the Cardinals were close enough to win every game but failed to do so in one way or another and if history is any indication their season will reflect the same. They will finish 7-16 or someone equivalent so that they fall just shy of claiming the West despite making a strong showing.

This article is already too long to go through Denny Green's season last year but merely mentioning the 2006 Monday Night lost to the Bears is enough to see the parralells.

But Arizona fans will continue to watch with the detached enjoyment that you get from minor league baseball or a good hockey game. Fans have nothing invested and are already planning on how they will watch and follow next year's season. Wisenhunt will have had a year to see how his team plays and Leinart should be healthy and hopefully humble enough to become the franchise quarterback that could utilize our two primetime wide receivers.

Homeless man to be buried Thursday

The homeless man who came to be known in Yuma County as the "Navigator" will be buried on Thursday and the attorney who became involved in his case is asking for help to raise enough money to cover the costs. Attorney Richard Edgar, who works for the law firm of Bowman and Smith, said he needs about $6,000 more in donations to pay for Sonny Dean Frazer's funeral. To help raise that money, Edgar said he has set up a fund at First Yuma Bank under the name "In remembrance of Sonny Frazer," and said he would appreciate donations of any amount. Edgar said he picked out a plot for Frazer at Desert Lawn earlier this week. It is located in the veteran's section of the cemetery. "He served in the U.S. Navy and will be given a military burial," Edgar said. Frazier, 65, of Yuma, died Oct. 19, 2007, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Phoenix. He was born Feb. 24, 1942 and worked with the railroad in addition to being a veteran of the Navy. Edgar became involved in Frazer's case when the "Navigator" was arrested in February 2004 by Yuma County sheriff's deputies. He had one of the attorney's business cards in his pocket, so jail officials called him. Frazer first came to the attention of Foothills residents in the summer of 2003. At first, he sat atop an overturned bucket at the Fortuna Road I-8 exchange. He later acquired a folding chair and an umbrella to shield himself from the sun, and periodically changed his spot between the northeast and southeast corners. He identified himself to passers-by as the "Navigator." As paper and other refuse accumulated at the spot he occupied, Frazer was cited for littering on three separate occasions and eventually arrested by deputies. Misdemeanor littering charges were eventually dismissed when Edgar had Frazer declared mentally incompetent to stand trial and committed to Excel for care, where he remained until his death.
