I won't go into details, not worth the trouble. The funniest part of the movie, no, not the cow-killing scene at the end....Avril Lavine plays a college student.

Letdown

Being a proud member of the "Indy" generation (Post Star-Wars) I am a bit offended by this piece of crap poster they have just released for the new Indy flick. It looks amateurish and animated....

The new poster for the upcoming Batman flick was released yesterday. What are your thoughts? I hate to admit, but this is the first disappointment I have had with the early buzz for the film. I think Ledger will do a good job, but there is something almost sophmoric and predictable about this poster. Cillian Murphy handled the villian duties admirably in Chris Nolan's first re-imagining, here's to hoping this one doesn't fall victim to laziness.

FCC chairman abusing his power and not censoring anything, that should be a good thing. The irony of all this is that democrats are behind the congressional investigation. Funny but I feel that "Chairman Martin" (as he prefers to be called at FCC headquarters) represents me more than Congress or the consumer groups and media companies who are calling for his head. 3. AGAIN I AM THE FIRST TO POST THIS - tom petty plays the super bowl, now i am pretty sure that all of the writers on this site are fans of petty, fans of the super bowl. And also in case you retards didn't know it takes place in Arizona. (by the way in other slightly related music news, Garth brooks sold out 5 consecutive nights at the Staples Center in one hour, amazing). Prince will probably be the best ever Half Time show but a little good ol rockin never hurt no one. link

4. KATTAN BLANK MOVIE. thank goodness the WB CW sucks because the turned down a potentially hit show that I never would have watched and more than likely would have been toned down for the crappy network. Amy Sedaris, Chris Kattan are starring in an indie film that was formerly a tv pilot that got dumped. THe film is written and direted by the daughter of Diane Von Furstenburg (fashion designer) and Barbara Bach (hello!!!!!) and step-father Ringo.
Oh yeah it is about boarding school girls, but who cares with coked out queero KATTAN and Jerri you got a winner LINK

5. JAY ONLY PAYS A WEEKS SALARY. after my post earlier this week, and all it gets him to do is pay one weeks salary, 2009 can't come soon enough LINK

6. OSCAR WATCHING. leading oscar watcher David Poland put in his 50 cents worth on the film ATONEMENT. It doesn't look good for Focus Features, but then again apparently someone got the balls to compare it to DR. ZHIVAGO. Whoever made that comparison should be fired. Anyways this is good news for the Coens and PTA because I was worried that this drama might push them all down a notch, hey we might even see ole JESSE JAMES show up but unfortunately it means we will see that Sean Penn lack of responsibility film INTO THE WILD get some more credit, by the way he dies at the end. 20 Million bucks THAT IS CALLED GREED

In the LA times this morning a report on the goings on of the strike talks. The guys with the money offered and the guys that work for them denied (actually it is not the writers but the labor leaders that represent the writers) Over 20 million dollars. When you talking the difference between 151 million and 130 million that is called GREEDY. I wish the labor negotiators would let these people get back to work, even if all there shows do suck. But they get paid the longer this takes (*oh you didn't know that) plus the get their names in the paper a lot more.

Thanks to Tai-Pan for the first Sundance preview, since I spend most of my time around the celluloid, I am embarassed that i did not post it myself. Since he did a pretty good job I will stick to this list of premieres and out of competition films.

Completely Ignorant Review: Sundance Lineup

Many years ago, my brother and I rented a car and drove up to Sundance-it proved to be a memorable experience. We stayed at my grandparents' house and had a friend of mine buy us discount student tickets. I think we saw 5 or 6 films and had a great time. In honor of the Sundance lineup being announced today (and the cool fact that same little brother is going this year in a "professional" capacity-aka coke dealer) I present my Completely Ignorant Review of the Sundance Film Festival Lineup!!! (I know the title stinks - let me work on it)
The first time we went, I put lil bro in charge of picking which movies we wanted to go see. I think all he had to pick from were very short synopses - it made for an interesting mix of films. I have always wondered if I would have picked the same.... oh well - I know nothing about these movies. These are snap judgments, get it!? (Here is the link to the Variety article and full lineup)

American Son: This story of romance on shore leave stars the incredibly retarded cast of Nick Cannon and Tom Sizemore. Here's hoping the romance isn't.. "forbidden".The names aren't ones that inspire a great deal of confindence. There is always the train-wreck factor and the long cinematic history of soldiers doing crazy sheet on leave, and you can watch to see the tracks on Sizemore's arms... so we'll leave this one as a maybe

I will save you the time of looking through the documentaries... Only one seems to be worth anybody's time: Slingshot Hip Hop," directed by Jackie Reem Salloum, looks at Palestinian rappers. It should be good for a few laughs...

French filmmaker Christian Delage's documentary "Nuremberg: The Nazis Facing Their Crimes" will be released Nov. 20 on DVD by Lionsgate, in time for the 60th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials. The film incorporates rare, restored courtroom footage shot under the supervision of legendary helmer John Ford and features an interview with 92-year-old Bud Schulberg, the only surviving member of the Field Photographic Branch that Ford dispatched to gather footage to make the Nazi plan a key piece of evidence in the trial. Narrated by Christopher Plummer, "Nuremberg" had its official premiere this year at Lincoln Center.

Owen's new girl

Now I know that I talked some crapp when all the stuff went down with the blonder of the Wilson brothers. But I have since repented and after seeing Luke (don't worry I didnt approach himm) the other night, and watching one of their films, and realized that I owe alot to the family Wilson, maybe not as much as i do the brothers Cohen but alot still the same.

Now after being all sentimental i dont want to finish this post. I was going to link a page of Owen's new girlfriend, this isnt a scoop by any means but hopefully it is a sign that he is feeling better. And i truly hope that he is. I dont know my history that well but here is a quick list of shows that cames from the brits not the other way around. Friends the brit versions was much sluttier and funnier, crap I just blanked out now all I can think of is the OFFICE which was to be my big close because the American Office is a joke so funny I forgot to laugh (PW Herman) Anyways throw down any other shows that came this way form across the pond to remind the producers that they can rely on the Brits to makes us laugh and not the water downed crapped we have been, sorry you have been (i dont watch that crap) watching for years.

Again the master John Waters returns to the throne of trash and is now mainstream. He is genius and to think that my mother enjoyed the remake of Hairspray a movie simply based on the ideas of Waters. Anyways in this interview Waters talks about some other stuff he is doing, but mentions the Larry Craig, bathroom stall incindent, and he wants to do a movie about it. Great idea. Hell lets do a tv show about it. It just takes place at the aiport and every day someone gets busted having sex in the bathroom. Or something. Anyways he hasnt copywrited the idea yet, My idea would be called "through a hole in the wall" or "under the stall doors" something creepy like that. Anyways AMPTP (association of motion picture and television producers) there is one idea for you.

I need to do this (Strikbreaking)

Scabbing and Strikebreaking are such dirty and negative words. How about making money. Is that what we all should be doing. I once had a job a Target. It wasn't great but I worked really hard because, that was how my parents raised me. It is also why I have little time to write on this subject, because I work too hard. Now my beef with these losers walking around backing up traffic and talking on the Iphones and blackberries and screaming to stop productions, is that they are doing just that and not working. While at Target they had rules about pay and pay increases and they could only be so much. It got to the point where I was doing a huge portion of my team's work and not being compensated for it. The best i got was the maximum pay increase the rules allowed. Plus my superiors were very glad I was there and made it known to me how valuable it was that I was there. After two years of working the graveyard shift at Target (because I was also going to school) I had to go. I had my fill of Target and knew that I could find a better paying job and that I would be worth it. They offered me more money but it came with more responsibility and I had to way the costs and it didn't add up.

My point to this is that I wanted more money so "I" quit and "I" found another job that payed more money and have been doing so for my entire life and will do so until I die. That is why I live in America because with the right education and hard work I can achieve whatever "I" want. Not what someone else wants but "me" and my family.

How can one trust the other 3,000 members of this Writers Union, that they all want the same thing. You can't that is impossible. For a few negotiators to solve the needs of 3,000 impossible. The Writers Union as it exists is designed to restrict, the rules and regulations of the Union inhibit progress and revenue more than the big moguls that they are picketing against.

The Writers Union should be changing it's purpose and not stand as a Union but as an Organization the supports those that need it help. These practices are already in place in the Union except they are tied up in the rules and regulations of the "Union" Why can't I, (as a future filmmaker and writer) benefit from some of the help and support services of the WGA and not be forced to abide by all its rules. The Union as we can see has such a hold on the industry that for new upcoming talent it is impossible to succeed without having to succumb to the Union.

I feel my statements have not been 100% clear. But here are some facts I would like to share.

The majority of the WGA is made up of non-working writers. Those famous people you see on TV are either not WGA members or they are probably not working as writers. The actual working writers were up until midnight the night before the strike finishing scripts. For some reason I could see myself as one of those writers working my hardest to finish the job before I was forced by the "Union" (that was created to help me) to stop working. It is like you were fired and quit by yourself but didn't want to.

Next the WGA states that they withdrew their demand for a 4 cent increase in DVD sales and only wanted the percentages for online revenue to match that of TV. If this is true or not it made little difference to the AMPTP because at that late hour on Sunday night back on the East Coast the WGA East had already gone on strike. Did the negotiators for the WGA West not think that the AMPTP would know about the East Coast going on strike at midnight (all those out work new yorkies were eager for something to do and they get free drinks and food).

So when a friend makes a deal with you but he already knows the outcome and you discover that he already knows what is going to happen, Do you still trust him, do you still believe him when he says that he does not want increase on the DVD sales.

There is so much on this topic to discuss.
The fact that the studion moguls really have no idea how to make money online. Despite what Tina Fey and Jon Stewart have said. If they knew how to make money they would be doing it. The internet is a dangerous place and devours most sites. So far few have succeeded in this game.

Writers shouldn't be worried about making more money they should be worried about losing there job, because the quality of online content is becoming far superior to that of TV.

New Conan Film

I am a little offended by the comments coming from the company that is making this, saying that it will be truer tot he Robert E. Howard films, than the Swarchenegger films. As if they were bad.
Anyways here is the poster. I doubt the project will live up to Milius' vision unless it comes from a mind that is comparable.

Movies: First review- ALL spoilers because why in the hell would you see a movie called NITRO

So since i dont care much about sports, except when dane cook is there cheering on his favorite team or supporting the MLB in general. I thought I would give my review of the last film I saw. Wait was it the last film I saw? I am not sure, well it must have been this (i can review this one because it has already been released) canadian film. I know what you are thinking canadia sucks. You are right that is why I didnt even capitalize it (even the the word processor told me too) But this movie was pretty kick ass. But a little sad at the end. Anyways it starts out with this guy Max who is really good at racing cars (think fast & the furious and all that gay stuff) years later he has a kid and the woman he loves is dying from heart failure. She needs a new heart and that dont have any spares. So Julien (the reformed Max) promises his son he will do whatever it takes to save his mother from dying. Julien has a friend at the hospital who is in charge of handling the donated organs, the two set up a deal that if Julien brings him a heart then he would make sure that everything looked legit and his wife would get it, but he would have to pay his friend $50,000(and that is canadian $ so really like $55,000)

So Julien goes to see his father who he use to steal cars for and hasn't seen for a while since he has cleaned up his life. His dad gives him a car (again not very impressive car F&F type of rice bruner crap) but it uses nitrous which is where the title come from I believe. Anyways this is
where it gets good. Unlike other crappy movie this one doesnt waste time on fancy stuff. He races about ten times and wins 40,000 and his car dies at the end and he goes home after he kicks the crap out of some guys when the try to keep his money.
