I slipped away yesterday afternoon to hunt some Quail and was pleased to find that game and fish reports of a below average season for the central Arizona region were incorrect, or I was just fortunate to find two coveys.
The first instance we (a friend from Flagstaff) and I jumped the covey in the same spot I had found them two year's ago. I harvested four from that group and left several others for another day.
The second covey was much higher that where I had found them in the past, and by the time I ascended to where my buddy jumped them, I was preparing for a heart attack. Nevertheless, I brought one of them back with me to feast upon, for a total a five for the afternoon. Five for an afternoon hunt is good in my book any season.
I understand that Kathy found a shotgun to give Wade for his birthday, does this mean we'll hunt over the Christmas break?

I hope MattDawg realizes that Kathy has never bought agun in her life - that's one of Dad's gifts to himself.
BTW excellent use of the proper vocabulary - harvested. I love it. I was up by Saguaro Lake this weekend and saw multiple coveys. Unfortunately, strict no hunting signs were found just about everywhere you look. I will have to do some research and see if there are any opportunities.
