If you are the kind of person to just open up and swallow all of the crap surrounding climate politics, then its best you close your eyes and click away. Despite countless articles, experts and documentaries decrying the hoax of global warming, everyone is "going green" or "carbon neutral" - two terms that have as much validity as "alien anal-probes". The facts are this: temperatures have risen almost immeasurably in the past twenty years, and those changes pale in comparison to those experienced 100 or 150 years ago. Those are the facts. I understand that for every "naysayer" produced, the ELF can parrot just as many "reputable" scientists to support the THEORY. What really makes me angry is the hero-worship of Algore and the millions of dollars worth of time and effort put into a hoax.
One of my favorite books on this subject is State of Emergency by Michael Crichton. Yeah, yeah I know what you are saying, its fiction - but to discount it on those grounds means you are foolish and haven't read any of his stuff. Check it out. One of the ideas in the book is that global warming hysteria is cruel to mankind by denying cheap energy and foodstuffs to the people that can really benefit from it - poor Africans (just kidding). Hopefully you understand what I mean. I ran across 2 little stories today that you won't hear on CNN tonight. Tell me what you think. Oh yeah - the photo above was taken in El Centro, CA. It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
It doesn't get madder than this. Swaziland is in the grip of a famine and receiving emergency food aid. Forty per cent of its people are facing acute food shortages. So what has the government decided to export? Biofuel made from one of its staple crops, cassava. The government has allocated several thousand hectares of farmland to ethanol production in the district of Lavumisa, which happens to be the place worst hit by drought. It would surely be quicker and more humane to refine the Swazi people and put them in our tanks.

I am trying to shorten the posts, but I had to share this story. Mi chica took me to an event at the newest condo tower in town last week, at which the developer was asked to say a few words about his fab new building. The event was also the kick-off for a new "go-green" campaign in the area. After the developer began to speak, one of the obnoxious greenies shouted "when does your building go green". The smartest guy in the room shouted back "He went green by not devouring 60 acres to build 160 units". I wanted to cheer. Just a little story to highlight the ignorance of the movement. That's what drives you crazy-ignorance and arrogance. To think that putting green garbage cans in the stairwell is going to save us from climate armageddon.
you know me and Rachel went through the whole inconvenient truth thing because it was assigned reading for her class, so of course i had to search out an opposing opinion and did so. At first Rachel thought they ideas in the book were honest and good until we discovered that most of the stuff was wrong and fabricated.

I'm trying to figure out what the green's get by promoting this point of view? Is it just a rallying cry?
Anyway, unless I don't have my history correct, wasn't North America covered by an icesheet 10,000 years ago? So, if that ice sheet was there, it has been receding all that time and the ice has retreated to some northern glaciers. I assume that the ice sheet retreat is related to a warming trend, is that warming trend the fault of native americans and their known reliance on prehistoric GMC and Ford vehicles?
That we are in a warming trend is obvious, what impact are humans having on that? Virtually none. Some more food for thought: The earth has been confirmed to be in warmer states than it is right now. During those periods when it is was warmer than now, what was going on there?
I think the bottom line is: Earth is in a constant state of change, with warming and cooling trends. There is something else that controls the climate change, and it isn't anthropomorphic. What is sciences' explanation for those periods of warming that existed before humans were even on the radar. What do the global warming types have to say about the cooling that happened during 1400- 1700 in Europe?
The greens are just blabbing on and on and don't really know whether their coming or going.

Otherwise, I think Crom (David) was mentioning that he thought your "Murdered Muse" handle would be good to use. I was Certified Dungeon Master until everyone still referred to me as Taylor and I figured that it might get confusing for some not so frequent readers.
This is just my read of the posts, in this crazy world... who the hell knows.
